Systems Manager, IT Azure Engineering
The posted compensation range of $56.83 - $82.40 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. CommonSpirit may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law.
Responsibilities
- Manages the implementation of CommonSpirit-managed Microsoft Azure initiatives to support business strategy by conducting regular meetings with team members and leadership.
- Contributes to the development of Azure standards and changes to systems/applications. Provides technical and business expertise.
- Develops and implements technologies to improve the performance of an IT or business process and increase profitability.
- Leads and inspires a team of skilled analysts and engineers, creating an inclusive work culture where people are engaged with the CommonSpirit mission.
- Develops a culture of quality and innovation to provide high quality Azure cloud technology securely, effectively, with minimal disruption, and at optimal cost to Azure cloud customers.
- Prepares, reviews and interprets and analyzes a variety of information, data and reports. Recommends and implements tactical procedures to improve operational effectiveness, increase profitability, and enhancements to services.
- Tracks assigned budget and resources and provides input to the annual budget development process. Monitors Azure costs and other expenditures.
- Manages staff including prioritizing and assigning work that may have conflicting priorities and timelines; conducts performance evaluations, ensures staff is trained, takes an active role in developing talent, ensures employees follow policies and procedures, and makes hiring, termination and disciplinary recommendations.
- Assists in the planning and development of short term and long term goals for the team and staff members. Coordinates operational and team efforts in alignment with goals and objectives related to the CommonSpirit-managed Microsoft Azure tenants.
- Anticipate, recognize, and deal effectively with existing or potential conflicts at the individual, group, or situation level; ability to apply this understanding appropriately to diverse situations.
- Serves as a liaison and the team's point of contact with internal departments, executives, and external organizations. Represents the Azure Engineering Team at a variety of meetings, on committees, and/or other related events regarding services, programs, projects and facilities.
- Manages vendor relationships to maximize value to the business.

Qualifications
Bachelors Of Science - computer engineering, computer science or information systems
10+ years - equivalent professional experience
7-9 years - relevant technical and business experience
- Experience deploying and managing infrastructure in major cloud providers (Azure, AWS, GCP)
- Deploying and managing complex Azure environments including Azure IaaS, PaaS and SaaS services
- Experience with Azure DevOps project, pipelines and code repositories in support of deploying Infrastructure as Code
- Infrastructure code development experience with Terraform, Ansible or Python
- Core infrastructure engineering experience such as networking, virtualization, server operating systems, or storage in complex environments that include multiple domains in multiple states
- Information Technology leadership experience
- Managing highly skilled engineers that are located across multiple time zones

The Manager will oversee a team of Azure engineers and analysts who could be spread across four time zones as well as contractors or service providers. Based upon assignment, managers are accountable for the development, implementation, management, refinement, or support of technology systems, and information critical to CommonSpirit Health's day to day engineering and operations.
Managers provide across-the-board first level management supervising staff to include: conducting performance evaluations, coordinating training, and implementing hiring, discipline and termination procedures. Incumbents will oversee day-to-day operational management of all activities and functions in support of the respective multiple assigned integrated technologies, processes and projects/programs including developing, implementing policies, procedures and standards; achieving service levels; developing and monitoring budgets; providing technical advice and/or oversight to staff or other departments related to area of assignment; evaluating information concerning needs; estimating and coordinating program/unit activities and associated costs; and tactical project execution activities.
The IT System Manager manages a team accountable for the development, implementation, management, refinement, or support of Azure-related technologies, systems, and information critical to CommonSpirit Health's day to day business operations.
