Job Summary and Responsibilities

The System Director, IT Infrastructure Network Campus and Operations plays a critical role in enabling the organization's mission by ensuring a robust, reliable, and secure network infrastructure. This role provides strategic leadership and oversight for the organization's LAN, Wireless, and Operational performance, including network monitoring, incident response, and service level agreement (SLA) adherence, to ensure a robust and reliable foundation for all IT services. The role oversees the planning, designing, and implementation of campus networks. Additionally, the leader is responsible for day-to-day monitoring of the organization's network infrastructure to ensure the stability and performance of the network, proactively identifying and resolving issues to minimize downtime.
Reporting to the System VP of Infrastructure Network and Voice, the Director will manage and lead a team of managers, individual contributors, and contractors in the design and implementation of technologies focused on campus networks and operational support. The role will oversee budgets, provide technical guidance on network architecture, security best practices, and technology roadmaps, and drive team performance to optimize the
organization's service delivery.
The Director will work with peers and colleagues from all areas of IT and the organization.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide strategic direction and influence to an organization of ~70-100 employees and outsourced partners,
    managing 5-8 direct reports, while championing a team culture that fosters innovation and high performance to
    drive results, and upholding CommonSpirit Culture values.
  • Ability to develop and implement a forward-looking LAN and wireless strategy, aligned to business objectives and
    industry best practices, to drive innovation and ensure the network infrastructure supports future business
    needs.
  • Lead major technical and engineering activities, including the evaluation and adoption of new technologies (e.g.
    software-defined networking), to enhance network capabilities, improve user experience, and maintain a
    competitive edge
  • Advance network operations maturity by standardizing monitoring tools and implementing automation for key
    tasks such as incident response, configuration management, and patch deployment to improve network
    performance, reduced mean time to repair (MTTR), and increased operational efficiencies. Leverage data-driven
    insights to identify bottlenecks, optimize resource utilization, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Lead continuous improvement in resource management practices, ensuring the environment is properly sized to
    minimize its environmental footprint and eliminating waste to optimize the utilization of assets and resources,
    contributing to a more sustainable and cost-effective operation.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to implement solutions efficiently and effectively.
  • Effectively allocate resources and prioritize project demand and workload for the team to consistently meet
    business time lines.
  • Establish and maintain open communication channels with key vendor contacts to ensure timely access to
    information regarding product updates and industry best practices.

Job Requirements
  • Bachelors degree or equivalent job experience
  • 10+ years of demonstrable experience in assessments within a complex health care environment.
  • 7+ years of leadership experience in Network or related infrastructure function.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of development, implementation, and maintenance of campus networks in a large complex environment.
  • Solid understanding of Cisco SDA architecture to include familiarity with fabric components and integration with wireless networks
  • Strong understanding of Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking technologies to include switching, routing, TCP/P, ARP, DHCP and DNS.
  • Knowledge of VLANS and network policy segmentation. 
  • Proven ability to manage operational aspects of networking and automation tools, including configuration management, monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance tuning, to optimize network efficiency and ensure high availability.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead the development of long-range assessment plans and strategies.
  • Possess strong communication skills, effectively manages complex environments, and leads with a focus on empowering team members to perform efficiently.
