Sys VP Oncology Service Line
The posted compensation range of $174.95 - $244.93 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. CommonSpirit may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law.
Responsibilities
- Leadership & Engagement: Inspire and engage physicians, advanced practice providers, and clinicians through education, training, and consultation. Provide strategic direction and leadership to system ministries, collaborating closely with the System Service Line Administrator.
- Quality & Performance Improvement: Oversee the development and implementation of service line-specific quality initiatives, establishing clinical goals, monitoring outcomes, and providing data-driven insights to improve care.
- Collaboration & Support: Partner with key stakeholders across the organization (Strategy, Operations, Supply Chain, IT, etc.) and collaborate with other national groups to support the development of risk-based payment models.
- Care Standardization & Efficiency: Standardize service line definition, structure, and reporting system-wide. Rationalize services, inform operational best practices, and develop benchmarked results to improve care.
- Strategic Growth, Planning & Innovation: Define and designate Centers of Excellence, act as a key partner in driving growth and long-range strategic planning, and support the assessment of new technologies and innovative approaches to care delivery.
- Operational Oversight & Financial Management: Oversee key hires, partner with finance, supply chain, and pharmacy leadership to reduce costs, and lead the organization in achieving organizational improvements and outcomes.
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
● Medical degree required; board certification in a related Service Line (required to maintain certification for continued employment).
● Master’s in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration or related field strongly preferred.
● Minimum 10 years of experience in discipline with minimum 7 years of progressively responsible physician leadership experience in clinical oncology care and/or in an integrated health system.

The System Vice President, Oncology Service Line – Physician Executive, serves as the senior clinical authority for oncology across CommonSpirit Health. This physician executive provides strategic clinical leadership and direction for the Service Line, ensuring alignment with system-wide goals for quality, safety, and performance. In partnership with the System VP, Service Line Administrator, this dyad leadership role guides the development and execution of integrated, multidisciplinary care strategies. Together, they champion the adoption of evidence-based clinical standards, drive performance improvement initiatives, and work to reduce patient harm, optimize resource utilization, and eliminate unwarranted variation in care. Their efforts are focused on enhancing clinical outcomes, improving care coordination, and elevating the patient and caregiver experience.
As a key member of the CommonSpirit Health clinical leadership team, the Physician Executive collaborates with executive leaders across the organization to shape and implement system and local strategies. This role plays a critical part in advancing the transformation to a unified clinical enterprise, fostering physician alignment, and achieving goals related to patient experience, employee engagement, and financial performance. The Physician Executive will also maintain an active clinical practice within a CommonSpirit Health community, ensuring a strong connection to front-line care delivery and the evolving needs of patients and providers.
