Responsibilities
Job Summary / Purpose
The Director of Leadership and Executive Development is accountable for the TLC senior leadership development strategies, initiatives and programs focused on building leadership capability across C-Suite and executive leaders to drive strategic business and health care outcomes. The Director of Leadership and Executive Development will also lead development solutions, programs and processes to serve high potential and ministry critical populations. The Director will lead a team of program directors, managers and coordinators and facilitators.
Essential Key Job Responsibilities
Needs Analysis, Strategic Alignment & Expansion
Assesses and identifies learning and development needs and solutions for specific executive leadership roles throughout the C-Suite, executive roles, and high potential programs
Works collaboratively with senior leadership and business owners to identify and develop key organizational capabilities.
Sets overall framework to scale, enhances and extends Leadership Development executive and high potential development programs.
Ensures executive development programs, tools and processes align with organizational business objectives.
Design, Development, Deployment and Evaluation
Oversees a variety of learning and development solutions based on business needs with deep subject matter expertise on learning approaches that reflect healthcare business practices.
Designs programs as needed that are instructionally sound and meet the business objectives of the program
Influences and engages leaders and other key stakeholders to actively participate in executive development programs and ensure alignment to scale for operational efficiencies.
Identifies, evaluates and leverages various program development and delivery methods to achieve learning objectives.
Manages day-to-day vendor relationships and monitors performance.
Collaborates with the VP of Learning, Culture and Experience to identify and develop leaders and subject matter experts to deliver training.
Monitors and evaluates the quality and effectiveness of program development and delivery and provides coaching and feedback to ensure consistent effective performance.
Identifies and implements support systems to ensure that knowledge and skills are truly embedded and employed as a result of development activity.
Measures program effectiveness by partnering in the development and analysis of quantitative and qualitative data and comparing results against expected performance objectives.
Partners effectively to develop and deploy communication strategies to enhance awareness and foster a learning and development culture.
Accountable for reporting business metrics that align with program objectives.
Talent & Resource Utilization
Oversees the overall executive development program budgets. Leads pursuit of innovating funding structures which may include grants, community funds, foundations, or joint ventures.
Prepares budgetary recommendations that meet departmental goals and provide for effective management of resources.
Ensures effective utilization of resources (materials, budgets, vendors, and people).
Fosters a culture that inspires commitment to the vision, mission, and values of the organization. Ensures employees are recognized, valued, and supported.
Professional Practice
Systematically evaluates leadership development plans to determine achievement of expected outcomes and resource allocation.
Demonstrates an understanding of instructional design, adult learning theories, and evaluation methodologies that can be used to coach employees and develop leaders.
Problem solves independently and engages stakeholders appropriately.
Role models lifelong learning and proactively shares leadership and organizational development trends and practices.
Understands healthcare and business practice and how leadership and learning development solutions contribute to business value.
Stakeholder and business engagement
Influence and engage leaders and other key stakeholders to actively participate in program development and facilitation.
Work collaboratively with the Director of Learning and Leadership Development, VP of Learning, to identify and develop leaders and subject matter experts to deliver training.
Ensure effective utilization of resources (materials, budgets, vendors, and people).
Strong knowledge and experience in learning strategies and practices, leadership development, curriculum design, coaching methods and approaches.
Strong business acumen and healthcare industry knowledge
Strong verbal and, written communication skills, excellent presentation skills
Strong critical thinking skills and stakeholder management influencer techniques
Ability to effectively coach, develop and lead others
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s Preferred in Education, Leadership Development, OD Development, IOPsych, or similar
Required Licensure and Certifications
none required. Preferred: advanced certification in organizational development, executive coaching, facilitation skills
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Training
7-10+ years of experience in relevant work
