Responsibilities
  • Provides evaluation, engineering/design and implementation services for new products, technologies and solutions to address corporate business requirements. Provides escalation support to Tier 1 and 2 database engineers.
  • Demonstrates creativity and takes initiative in problem solving. Resolves or facilitates resolution of complex problems for assigned programs.
  • Focuses the majority of time on complex engineering, architectural and implementation tasks.
  • Lead projects associated with the enhancement, upgrade/patching, or implementation of new or existing technology solutions.
  • Coordinate implementation and support efforts between IT Operations and other Common Spirit IT teams.
  • Design, implement and maintain a comprehensive monitoring and alerting process across all IT Operations platforms.
  • Remote eligible.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience 

  • BA or BS in Computer Science, Technology, or Business discipline or equivalent experience is required.
  • 6-10 years of professional experience in an IT technical or infrastructure field is required.
  • 7+ years’ experience with Oracle environments is required.
  • 3+ years’ experience designing and architecting database environments for large implementations preferred.
  • 3+ years’ experience designing and architecting clustered database environments and high-availability environments preferred.
  • 5+ years’ experience with database performance tuning including determining database disk requirements and layout, tuning of database parameters, and tuning slow running queries preferred.
  • 7+ years’ experience working with and using Linux/UNIX operating systems is required. 

Required Licensure and Certifications

  • 2 or more relevant technical/professional certifications preferred


Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Training

  • Established understanding of Infrastructure and relative technologies.
  • Established understanding of network connectivity and protocols.
  • Proven ability to perform daily maintenance on at least 2 other database platforms besides the core specialization.
  • Ability to work with other technical leaders within the organization.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, set priorities, schedule and meet deadlines in a past paced work environment.
  • Demonstrate effective time management and organizational skills in prioritizing and executing assigned tasks.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Must be able to work independently as well as work close in a team environment when needed.
  • Demonstrates a customer service approach to service delivery and effectively communicates with our customers on requests and incidents.
  • Strong conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to assume technical leadership roles as needed within an area of technical expertise.
  • Experience working in a large complex networking environment is required.
  • Ability to manage projects independently from inception to completion.
  • Analytical thinking and problem solving from inception to completion.
  • Commitment to quality and high level of integrity.
