Responsibilities

Job Summary / Purpose
The Director of Physician Recruitment is responsible for all activities in relation to provider recruiting, for both Dignity Health Medical Foundation and for the independent community practices affiliated with the Dignity Health hospitals.

Responsibilities may include: 

- Serves as vital team member supporting the acheivement of Medical Foundation and Dignity Health Service Area operational and strategic goals through provider recruitment. Partners with leadership to understand business strategies, develops and implements plans to build needed organizational capabilities to support aggressive growth. - Organizes and aligns Provider Recruitment to best support the business imperatives. Establishes and maintains a structure and staff that are agile, respectful, efficient and effective in achieving alignment with the organization's operational objectives. 

- Diagnoses and determines the scope of organizational issues relative to Provider Recruitment. Develops and leads implementation of solutions. 

- Leads all provider recruitment activities for Dignity Health Medical Foundation and for community/independent practices affiliated with Dignity Health., including assigning all opportunities, sourcing, networking, troubleshooting, and other activities to successfully attract and retain providers. 

- Formulates a recruitment plan based on Medical Foundation needs; communicates this plan to recruitment staff and client. Formulates a recruitment plan based on community needs and strategic plans of Service Area; communicates this plan to recruitment staff and client. 

- Works closely with Chief Medical Officer/Executive Director/physician leaders to define short-term and long-term provider needs, recruitment strategies, forecast potential problem areas. Aligns recruiting efforts with organizational strategies/objectives. Establish regular and close communications keeping leadership informed of the progress of recruitment and with physician candidates as search progresses. Utilizes electronic resources effectively to provide distinctive and timely customer service. 

- Identifies annual recruitment priorities and assigns realistic timetables for closing physician recruitment negotiations and therefore completion of specific recruitment priorities. Responsible for delegating recruitment projects to recruitment team to help maintain good work flow and timely completion of projects. 

- Uses technical recruitment expertise to educate, consult, and collaborate with physician and administrative leadership on the following areas: physician recruitment process, employment law, market availability, compensation and benefits, immigration needs. 

- Oversees all residency outreach activities to help formulate a plan aimed at growing candidate pipeline and retaining as many Dignity Health residents as possible; participates in GME council functions; partners with Dignity Residency Program Directors to provide desired educational forums and advise residents on job search activities and opportunities; tracks and reports residency outreach data 

- Establishes and monitors key metrics (such as number of open positions, number of candidates, number of interviews, ratio of candidates to placements, time-to-fill, and other metrics as needed) to identify trend issues and areas for process/offer improvement. Measures results against benchmark data. Provides report to Senior Leadership for discussion and brainstorming of possible process adjustments. 

- Manages all provider recruitment staff, including all budgeted hiring; develops and grows team as provider recruitment responsibilities require; ensures balanced workload for recruiters while maintaining seamless recruitment and excellent customer service for all clients. 

- Perform other duties as assigned

Essential Key Job Responsibilities

  • Must be familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices and procedures as the position relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Knowledge of healthcare recruiting and hospital operations.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handling multiple tasks simultaneously. Ability to think creatively; compare and analyze data; prepare clear, concise, thorough, meaningful, and grammatically correct written reports, letters, memoranda, and other documents. Ability to independently plan, organize, prioritize, schedule, coordinate, and make decisions relating to assigned tasks.
  • Ability to work after normal business hours as required to fulfill the responsibilities of the position. Extensive knowledge of Windows operating system software including, but not limited to Word, Excel, Access, Publisher, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Knowledge of the internet as it applies to posting of job openings and other recruitment activities. Extensive knowledge of principals and practice of business administration including, but not limited to: report preparation, creation of spreadsheets, database information input and maintenance, creation of marketing tools, such as flyers, brochures, etc.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Required Education and Experience 
Eight (8) or more years experience in physician recruitment or related physician relations activities. Management experience required. 

Bachelors degree (appropriate experience can be substituted for education). 

Valid Driver's License and proof of automobile insurance required. 


Preferred Qualifications: 

- Ten (10) or more years experience in physician recruitment or related physician relations activities. Experience with employment and independent practice models. 

- 5+ years of management experience.
