Job Summary

The Epic Instructional Designer works under the direction of the training team manager and is responsible for developing and maintaining course curricula and supporting training materials for applications. They will participate during workflow analysis & design with Subject Matter Experts (business leaders, physicians, nursing, and other ancillary services personnel) to ensure congruity between system design and lesson plans. Responsible for building, testing, and maintaining the training environment, maintaining procedure documentation related to training, conducting training for divisional credentialed trainers as required, and coordinating training material updates for software upgrades and updates.

They can utilize multimedia technology and authoring tools effectively as part of the delivery of education goals. Attention to detail is a critical skill for this position. Successful candidates enjoy helping other users learn and adopt usage of the application. They will work closely with system vendors, consultants, and technical services of any given affiliate to ensure education delivery meets training specifications.

Job Responsibilities

  • Accountable for supporting the management of the scope, schedule, and quality of the projects and training materials within their respective application/area.
  • Participate in the gathering of training requirements and workflow walkthroughs (number people trained, job roles, job responsibilities,  workflows, etc.)
  • Develop and document internal procedures that will be used in conjunction with the application and Training
  • Actively participates and may lead  weekly team meetings to discuss team and project related activities, issues, change, communications, and updates.
  • Collaborates and consults as needed with leadership to coordinate activities.
  • Lead small to medium projects/work plans including issues list, decision lists, risks and status reports. Basic project management skills.
  • Collaborates with Project Managers and/or Leadership to create and maintain work plans, issues list, decision lists, risks and status reports.
  • Independently completes specific task activities for curriculum design and development, MST build, credentialing, and optimization tickets/ fixes. And other tasks as assigned.
  • Supports all team members with application and information systems (MST, ACEs, TST, etc.) knowledge. Openly share knowledge with others. 
  • Collaborates with vendor resources; plays an active role in managing the technical build, testing and migration of the system.
  • Participates in process to maintain patients and ensure production changes for your area of responsibility move into the training environment in partnership with the engineering team
  • Ensure documentation and cookbook is maintained for the training environments for your area of responsibility.
  • Converts traditional courses into online learning modes (as needed)
  • Develop courses, instructional materials and other electronic instructional information consistent with adult learning theory. Offers suggestions on the best way to present curriculum to meet adult learning goals. 
  • Follows guidelines for curriculum and/or instructional program development, equipment and implementation.
  •  Maintains tools and processes to support the effectiveness of the training program. Develops tools and processes as needed. 
  • Promotes a team atmosphere that is conducive to the overall accomplishment of goals, schedules, and deadlines.
  • Supports credentialing  through the development of role-based credentialing and/or assessment program. Credentials trainers in their application.
  • May require some off shift coverage responsibilities, especially during implementation projects

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent knowledge and skills obtained through a combination of education, training, and experience in a Healthcare environment
  • At least five (5) years relevant healthcare experience; experience with adult learning and curriculum delivery preferred
  • Valid Epic Beacon certification required. Must maintain certification.
