The posted compensation range of $20.46 - $31.71 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. Job Summary and Responsibilities
As our Sterile Processing Tech, you will promote improved quality and patient safety in the OR by ensuring the efficient flow of the Sterile Processing department, performing routine tasks relating to decontamination, processing, sterilization, and distribution of instruments and supplies.
Every day you will operate and monitor sterilization equipment, maintain meticulous records in compliance with AAMI, AORN, Joint Commission, and OSHA standards, and actively assist the department's preparation for survey/regulatory assessments.
To be successful in this role, you will possess meticulous attention to detail in sterile processing, a strong understanding of safety and compliance standards, and a commitment to ensuring quality and patient safety in the operating room.
- Sterilizes supplies and instruments using the prescribed method (e.g.steam, gas plasma (Sterrad).
- Operates washer/decontaminator per department policy and procedure.
- Understands the basic principles of all sterilization equipment used in the department.
- Demonstrates knowledge of how items to be sterilized should be packaged in a manner that promotes successful sterilization.
- Follows manufacturer's recommendations (IFU's) and assures cleanliness of decontamination, sterilization, and equipment areas.
- Validates the proper functioning of all equipment using established mechanical and biological monitors.
Required
- High School Diploma/G.E.D.
- CRCST or CSPDT certification within 18 months of hire or transfer
Preferred
- Six (6) months of experience
