Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) you will influence by example and succeed through accountability. In character and conduct, you embody humankindness—by pushing us toward our best selves so we can do our best work every day. As the CNO, you will provide leadership in the daily operations of the hospital, responsible and accountable for leading hospital clinical operations by working through directors and other healthcare team members in providing patient care 24 hours a day and 7 days a week.

Every day you will embody the tenets of high reliability and strongly support clinical nurse-driven shared governance, exercising accountability for nursing care wherever it is provided in the hospital. You will assume an active leadership role with the Community Board, Senior Leadership, Medical Staff, and with hospital leaders, understanding the leadership expectations of this position and the entire leadership team. You will act as a team player, contributing toward a team-centered approach that ensures "team before self" to lead this complex, highly matrixed organization into a differentiated leading role as the system of choice. You will also invite others into their work to be fully transparent with the activities of this position, allowing for the celebration of success and learnings through opportunities for change.

To be successful in this role, our CNO:

  • Assumes an active leadership role with Community Board, Senior Leadership, Medical Staff and with hospital leaders in hospital.

  • Acts as a team player and contributes toward a team centered approach that lends itself to ensuring “team before self” to lead this complex, highly matrixed organization.
  • Acts as a change agent for the health system by being bold in your thoughts and actions as a thought leader in the industry.
  • Demonstrates personal and professional accountability to the community, associates, physicians, and sponsors for performance that this position and its team complete.
Job Requirements

In addition to bringing humankindness the workplace each day, qualified candidates will need the following:

  • Masters Degree in Nursing (other disciplines acceptable if they hold a BSN in nursing), required.
  • Doctorate Degree, preferred.
  • 5 years progressive clinical leadership nursing experience required.
  • CNO experience preferred.
  • RN license to practice in CO, required.
  • Nurse Executive Certification, professional certification required within 1 year of hire or transfer to role.
