The posted compensation range of $24.10 - $34.94 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. As our Surgical Tech at CHI St. Alexius Health Dickinson, now part of CommonSpirit Health formed between Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI) and Dignity Health, you’ll prepare the operating room for a variety of surgeries. We can’t operate without you.
The operating room (OR) runs as a team; every person on the team has an important role that directly impacts the patient. Your success in this role comes from your adaptability and enthusiasm to work with a team taking patients from a diseased process to a healing process.

Responsibilities
- Prepare the procedure room with appropriate instrumentation, equipment and supplies.
- Demonstrate competence and understanding of sterile technique, sterilization, environmental controls and decontamination of instrument and equipment.
- Establish and maintain an organized sterile field and assure team members maintain the sterile environment.
- Assists the surgeon by providing visualization of the surgical wound and assists with wound closure and application of sterile dressings.
- Demonstrate knowledge of anatomy and physiology as it relates to surgical procedures.
- Apply basic knowledge of instrumentation for each surgical service with advancement in years of service.
- Perform sponge, needle, and instrument counts in an accurate manner.
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience
- Successful completion of a Surgical Technologist program or an equivalent training program that has been reviewed and approved by the department director and VP of Patient Care Services
Required Licensure and Certifications
- National Certified Surgical Tech License required.
- UAP: North Dakota, required.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support -CPR, required.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Training
- Required knowledge: Principles of asepsis, case preparation, infection control, basic computer knowledge.
- Proficiency with computers and computer applications used in the healthcare setting.
- Able to communicate effectively in written and spoken English.
