Job Summary and Responsibilities

Are you a results-driven leader with a passion for exceptional food service and team development? CHI St. Alexius Health Dickinson is seeking a dedicated Supervisor, Nutrition Services to join our dynamic team in Dickinson, ND.

In this pivotal role, you will oversee all aspects of our nutrition services, ensuring the highest quality food preparation and delivery to patients and staff. We're looking for someone to not only lead but also to actively shape our team and services.

What you'll do:

  • Team Leadership & Development: Lead and mentor our team. You'll have authority to interview, hire, orient, train, discipline, and conduct performance evaluations. Set goals, clarify expectations, monitor performance, and address any issues.
  • Operational Excellence: Oversee daily and weekly work activities, direct team performance, and allocate staffing to meet needs. This includes auditing timecards, maintaining proper documentation, and ensuring departmental security.
  • Quality & Compliance: Uphold rigorous food safety and sanitation standards (JCAHO, CMS, local/state inspectors). You'll also manage ordering for food and supplies to maintain inventory.
  • Patient & Customer Focus: Promote outstanding customer satisfaction providing courteous, confidential, and responsive service. Resolve customer requests promptly, and visit patients to ensure their needs are met. You'll serve as the main point of contact for catering requests.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Work cooperatively with diverse team members, nursing leadership, and other hospital staff to develop best practices for patient needs. You'll communicate job-flow changes and participate in campus committees.
  • Continuous Improvement: Embrace new departmental equipment, technology, and processes. Actively engage in personal and professional growth through meetings, inservices, and continuing education. Take responsibility for property use of equipment and timely reports.

  • Proven Leadership: Experience in all aspects of employee management, including hiring, training, and performance management.
  • Food Service Expertise: Thorough knowledge of food service operations, including preparation, equipment operation, safety, and sanitation standards.
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to manage schedules, timecards, ordering, and complete timely reports.
  • Patient-Centered Approach: A strong commitment to delivering exceptional patient care and a positive dining experience.
  • Adaptability & Professionalism: Ability to adapt to new technologies and maintain a professional demeanor and appearance.

Job Requirements

Required:

  • Completed high school or equivalent knowledge level.
  • Minimum 3 years progressive experience in Food Service
Preferred:
  • Associates degree in Culinary Arts or related field
  • At least 2 years of management experience
  • Servsafe Certification (SERVSAFE)-Must obtain within 12 months of hire if you don't already have it.
  • Certified Dietary Manager (CDM)-Must obtain within 24 months of hire if you don't already have it.
