The posted compensation range of $23.11 - $34.38 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. CommonSpirit may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law.
Job Summary and Responsibilities
As a Polysom Tech, you will perform diagnostic sleep procedures per physician orders and established protocols. Every day you will conduct and evaluate polysomnograms for patients. You will be expected to set up the lab, prepare patients, score sleep staging, assist with data tabulation, and monitor/adjust equipment. To be successful in this role, you must possess thorough knowledge of sleep monitoring equipment, maintain skills through education, and participate in quality assurance under Sleep Lab Manager supervision, ensuring diagnostic accuracy and patient safety.

- Provides for the assessment and evaluation of the appropriateness and effectiveness of diagnostic testing based on patients’ age, cognitive and physical abilities, and/or developmental needs. Is responsible for communication to the physician of pertinent patient data.
- Initiates and monitors overnight testing procedures in accordance with American Academy of Sleep Medicine and within the guidelines of all regulating/governing bodies.
- Communicates a professional attitude with patients, visitors and other hospital personnel. Practices strict ethical enforcement of protected medical and employee confidentiality.
- Operates in full compliance with organization’s safety program. Responds to all emergency preparedness situations as appropriate. Utilizes standard precaution and assures unit’s equipment is ready for safe operation. Participates in quality assurance programs as directed.
- Assumes responsibility for personal and professional growth through participation in department meetings, in-service programs and continuing education programs. Fulfills yearly education requirements as stated by policy.
- Participates in clinical/didactic education of Respiratory Therapy/Sleep Technology students.
Required
- Registered Polysomnographic Technologist, within 6 months
- Basic Life Support - CPR, upon hire
- RRT's can be trained if interested in polysomnography, and SDS or RPSGT certifications also qualify
