Job Summary and Responsibilities
As our Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) you will be an integral part of our healthcare team, providing direct patient care within your scope of practice. This includes contributing to the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care for a diverse range of healthcare consumers. Your role is vital in addressing the spiritual, physiological, social, and psychological needs of patients, aligning with our mission and core values. This is a local position based at Mercy-Corning Hospital, with approximately 25% travel required.
Every day you will apply the nursing process by following the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practitioner. You'll contribute to systematic patient assessments, including physiological, sociocultural, spiritual, economic, and lifestyle factors. You'll participate in developing and modifying patient care plans, implementing and evaluating care based on assessment data, clinical reasoning, and evidence-based practice. Your daily responsibilities will also involve care coordination, patient education, discharge planning, accurate documentation, and fostering a collaborative and safe work environment. - Patient Care & Nursing Process: Provides direct patient care within the LPN scope of practice, under RN/Licensed Practitioner supervision, and actively participates in the nursing process (assess, plan, implement, evaluate) for healthcare consumers.
- Care Coordination & Education: Implements and modifies care plans, including care coordination, patient education, and discharge planning, ensuring adherence to standards of care and evidence-based practice.
- Documentation & Evaluation: Systematically documents all phases of the nursing process and evaluates patient progress toward goals, revising care plans as needed in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.

Job RequirementsRequired Education and Experience
- Associates Degree in Nursing
Required Licensure and Certifications
- Current licensure as Licensed Practical Nurse by the Iowa State Board of Nursing
- BLS
- ACLS, PALS (ACLS & PALS completed within 12 months of employment) will be acquired and maintained.
