The posted compensation range of $18.00 - $25.25 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. CommonSpirit may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law.

We value our incredible Certified Nursing Assistants and want to ensure they practice at the top of their license to better optimize their skills and experience. We’ve also developed a career path framework for CNAs that clarifies paths to move, develop and advance CNA careers into nursing and other roles. The Certified Nursing Assistants provides direct and indirect nursing care under the direction of a RN and in accordance with policies and procedures.
Job Requirements
In addition to bringing your whole self to the workplace each day, qualified candidates will need the following:
- Six months previous CNA experience preferred
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
- Basic computer skills
- Previous customer service experience preferred
- High School diploma or GED required
- Graduate of a Nursing Assistant Program required
- State registered CNA license required
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Training preferred. CPI training required if sitting with M-1 holds
Physical Requirements - Medium Work - (Exert up to 50lbs force occasionally, and/or up to 20lbs frequently, and/or up to 10lbs constantly)

The Medical and Surgical Unit at Penrose Hospital, one of our proud Magnet® designated hospitals, focuses on back and bariatrics consisting of 23 beds and is considered a Bariatric Center of Excellence. The BBU nurses specialize in caring for post-op bariatric weight reduction surgical patients, and those who have had orthopedic spine surgical procedures. We believe in a multi-disciplinary approach to provide excellent patient care. Our interdepartmental relationships allow our employees to treat patients and families holistically. The team works together towards a common goal of excellent patient experience and a welcoming work environment. The BBU leadership and clinical teams promote shared governance through dynamic unit and hospital committee involvement. Nurses are encouraged to further their education and career through certification and continuing education.
