Certified Surgical First Assist

The surgical First Assistant renders patient care by assisting the surgeon during operative procedures. The Assistant
functions under the direction of the operating surgeon during the patient's surgical experience. The Assistant provides
support to the surgeon by assisting with exposure and visualization, hemostasis, wound closure and other technical functions
that will help assure a safe surgical procedure.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities:
- Helps select and assemble instruments, supplies, and equipment for procedures
- assists in maintenance of equipment and
supplies and protects them when sending to Sterile Prep; provides instruments, suture, and supplies to the
surgeon in an appropriate and timely manner; - demonstrates knowledge of the procedure in order to
anticipate the surgeon's needs; prepares sterile field and arranges instruments in a timely manner; - Position and prep patients prior to surgical procedures, ensure clear visibility for the surgeon
Qualifications
Required Education:
- Associates Degree
Required Licensure:
- Certified Surgical First Assist Certification through ABSA, NBSTSA, NSAA
