Job Summary and Responsibilities
Accepting MLS or MLT candidates
As a Medical Laboratory Scientist, you'll accurately analyze and report medical staff-ordered tests, aiding patient diagnosis and treatment. You'll perform various test complexities on patient specimens, adhering to SOPs for timely and accurate results.
Key responsibilities include:
- Patient Care:Providing excellent care through clinical correlation, bias identification, critical value notification, and meeting turnaround times.
- Equipment Management:Operating, maintaining, calibrating, and troubleshooting major automated equipment, contacting vendors as needed.
- Quality & Compliance:Performing required calibration and quality control, maintaining records, and participating in proficiency testing. Assisting with validating new procedures and equipment.
- Professional Development:Participating in continuing education and training for colleagues and yourself.
- Operational Support:Managing supply inventory, ordering, and stocking.
- Teamwork:Completing shift work, resolving issues, and ensuring smooth handovers.
- Professionalism:Communicating professionally and with HumanKindness with all stakeholders, adhering to all regulatory requirements.
Job Requirements
MLS
Bachelor's Degree in a biological or chemical science as defined by CLIA.
Tennessee: MT-L:TN or MT ASCP or equivalent certification
MLT
Associate’s Degree in a biological or chemical science as defined by CLIA
Tennessee: MLT-L:TN or MLT (ASCP) or equivalent certification
Preferred: ASCP or equivalent certification
