Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Specialty Pharmacy Liaison, you will provide intensive patient care management for complex, high-dollar medication therapies, acting as a liaison between the provider staff, patient, pharmacy, billing, and other involved parties.

Every day you will represent CommonSpirit Health Specialty Pharmacy, driving excellent customer service and a full continuum of patient care. You will ensure each medication is delivered on time, is affordable for patients, and coordinate to increase prescription capture, medication adherence, and patient retention using various tools and applications.

To be successful in this role, you will possess expertise in specialty pharmacy operations and patient care management, strong communication and coordination skills, and the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders (providers, patients, billing, insurers, social services) to ensure patient medication adherence and optimize healthcare costs.

  • Act as an insurance specialist by expediting the prescription filling process (entering patient demographics, allergies, insurance information); obtain benefit information, verify patient insurance eligibility and level of coverage; understand Medicare/Medicaid regulations and billing guidelines as they pertain to Specialty Pharmacy patient benefits; understand billing primary, secondary, and tertiary insurance claims.
  • Initiate and assist with the Prior Authorization and Patient Prescription Financial Assistance processes within the assigned disease state.
  • Exemplifies excellent customer service during interactions with patients, employees, providers, and others to build the Specialty Pharmacy program.
  • Work with the referring provider and/or clinic staff along with the patient care management program to ensure that patients receive the medications needed at the appropriate time.
  • Communicate with patients inperson, and over the phone through inbound/outbound calls, to ensure adherence with medications through prescription refills and adherence checkins.
  • Actively participates in the accreditation process by understanding and performing the expectations of a liaison and patient care management within the standards.
Job Requirements

Required

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent Four (4)Five (5) years as a pharmacy technician
  • Combination of education and related experience may be considered
  • PHARMTECH:XX; and CPTEXCPT; or CPTPTCB; or CPHT Additional licensure as a pharmacy technician in the state(s) assigned as required
  • Knowledge of complex/chronic diseases states and therapies used within specialty pharmacy including and up to: Oncology, Transplant, Hepatitis C, Infectious Disease (including HIV), Multiple Sclerosis, Rheumatoid Arthritis, GI disorders (including IBD), Asthma and Allergies and Psoriasis

Preferred

  • Graduate of ASHP accredited pharmacy technician program
  • Associate's degree, bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience
  • Five (5)Eight (8) years as a Pharmacy Technician plus specialty pharmacy experience
  • Knowledge of many various inflammatory conditions preferred
