The posted compensation range of $58.13 - $92.72 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. The RN Scientist provides leadership in the development, implementation, management and evaluation of nursing research and evidence-based practice activities. Coordinates activities across the region to facilitate single and mutli-site studies. Provides a broad range of leadership and consultation for research and EBP activities including but not limited to the following: research questions, literature reviews, project development, abstract presentations, poster presentations, podium presentations, and publications. Provide mentorship and education to support research activities. Contributes to the overall health sciences knowledge.
The Nurse Scientist drives nursing research, evidence-based practice (EBP), and innovation to improve patient outcomes and advance nursing science. This role leads, conducts, and disseminates original research, secures extramural funding, and translates evidence into impactful clinical practice. The Nurse Scientist builds research capacity through mentorship, leads EBP initiatives, and represents the organization at regional and national forums to elevate nursing excellence. There won't be any direct reports for this position.
Secure Funding: Actively pursue and write grants to secure external funding for nursing research and EBP initiatives.
Publish & Present: Author peer-reviewed publications and present findings at regional and national conferences.
Drive EBP & Innovation: Guide the implementation and evaluation of EBP initiatives, develop structured pathways for unit-based RNs, and foster a culture of nursing innovation.
Foster Academic Partnerships: Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with academic institutions to facilitate research, EBP, and educational initiatives, including integrating students and faculty into projects.
Magnet Support: Align EBP/research activities with Magnet standards, mentoring clinical nurses for exemplary Magnet stories.
Interprofessional Collaboration: Engage multi-disciplinary teams in research and EBP projects.
Job Requirements
In addition to bringing your whole self to the workplace each day, qualified candidates will need the following:
- A Master's degree in nursing required
- PhD preferred
- 5 years of progressive nursing leadership and/or education experience required
- 2 years program leadership or research development preferred
- Current RN License to practice in state of employment as applicable, required
- Nursing Specialty Certification required, sit within 6 months. Achieve within 1 year of hire or transfer to this role.
Physical Requirements - Medium Work - (Exert up to 50lbs force occasionally, and/or up to 20lbs frequently, and/or up to 10lbs constantly)
