Overview

The Ambulance Manager is responsible for the overall operational oversight of the Carrington Health Center’s ambulance service.  This includes staffing, patient care, vendor relationships, community service, and working with other areas of the hospital to facilitate patient care.  The department operates 24/7, 365 days per year and the manager is expected to be available for all extraordinary events including after hours, weekends, and holidays.  May be required to work during man-made or natural disasters that include austere conditions(possibly no showers, housing in tents, portable toilets), extreme weather conditions(long exposure to heat and humidity, lack of air conditioning, extreme cold or wet environments), and long periods of standing.

Responsibilities
  • Supervises Carrington Health Center Ambulance personnel, providing overall direction of daily activities, orientation, Meeting attendance, performance evaluation, education, and support.
  • Develops, implements, and periodically reviews all policies, procedures and guidelines that support emergency medical services.  This includes, but is not limited to, Carrington Health Center/Common Spirit Health policies, state and federal laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Continuously assesses and improves the service’s performance based on, but not limited to, quality management plan (both overall performance and individual performance), and customer/employee satisfaction data.
  • Maintains open and positive communication with staff, providers, other hospital departments, and outside vendors while serving as a resource and consultant for emergency medical service issues.
  • Works with all parties responsible for billing issues to ensure completion and accuracy of all paperwork, validate the data, and distribute reports to appropriate departments.
  • Participates in and helps coordinate community education, outreach, and prevention activities.
  • May be asked to assist other hospital departments with patient care duties as needed.
  • Collaborates with the VP of Finance and VP of Patient Care Services to develop annual operating and capital budget, monitors and analyzes performance and productivity and implements necessary corrective plans.  Utilizes budget information in management decision-making.
  • Responsible for daily operational duties of the ambulance department which include, but are not limited to, completion and passing of vehicle inspections, rig inventory and maintenance requirements, daily staffing, and manage and coordinate all payroll edits.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Certification or Diploma from an approved Paramedic program
  • 1-2 years’ experience as a Paramedic
  • NREMT-PARA
  • EMT-P:ND
  • Basice Life Support (BLS) issued by American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) issued by American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) issued by American Heart Association (AHA)
