Job Summary and Responsibilities

The incumbent is responsible for technical, clerical, and transportation duties for the department and is involved with the preparation, distribution and delivery of medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. The technician must demonstrate competency in patient care for neonate, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients. Other duties within scope of practice as assigned by supervising pharmacist. The technician may be required to work at another GSSA facility.

As our Pharmacy Tech, you'll help our patients feel better by providing safe and effective medications to them. You'll help our doctors and nurses feel better knowing that you are providing accurate and timely medication to patients. Every day, you'll build trust by being extremely thorough and accurate at all times. Patient safety is your top priority, so you do everything you can to ensure all prescriptions are authentic, prepared correctly both in medication type and dosing, and are dispensed appropriately, under the Pharmacist's guidance. To be successful in this role, you follow all safety protocols, including those intended to prevent infection, and you keep a clean work area at all times. You are eager to learn or help out in any way needed to keep the pharmacy running smoothly and get our patients their medications.


Job Requirements
  • Certified PharmacyTechnician from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board.
  • Registration with the California State Board of Pharmacy as a registered technician.
  • One (1) year of acute care hospital pharmacy practice experience or a six (6) week Pharmacy Technician externship at a Dignity Health Sacramento Division Hospital
  • Or five (5) years of recent Retail Pharmacy experience processing TARs and PAs (within the last 3 years).
  • Or one (1) year recent experience in Pharmacy Managed Care (within the last 3 years) isr equired.
  • Pharmacy Technician: CA.


Preferred

  • Completion of an ASHP accreditedPharmacy Technician program.
  • Experience working in a USP 797 cleanroom is preferable.
  • Experience in the preparation of intravenous admixtures and antineoplastic/chemotherapeutic/hazardous medications is preferred.
