Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Per Diem NICU Nurse Practitioner (NP), you will help high-risk neonates and infants receive expert clinical management and family-centered care so they can achieve optimal health outcomes.

Every day you will apply your advanced clinical expertise to assess, diagnose, and treat complex conditions in critically ill neonates, while also educating families, contributing to program administration, and advancing evidence-based practice through research. You will be expected to perform comprehensive physical examinations, interpret diagnostic findings, execute a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, manage emergencies in diverse settings, and collaborate extensively with interdisciplinary teams.

To be successful in this role you must strategically lead the clinical management of high-risk neonates and infants, working collaboratively with medical, nursing, and support services to deliver comprehensive, family-centered care. You will demonstrate exceptional clinical expertise, fulfill significant educational and administrative duties, engage in consulting, and actively initiate and implement research to continuously advance the standards of neonatal care. 

  • Responsible for assessment and management of patient
  • Assess and manage infants during transport to and from the NICU
  • Collaborate with members of the high-risk obstetrical team
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary health team in planning, implementing, and evaluating ongoing care and education for the patient, families and community
  • Contribute positively to interpersonal, interdepartmental, and inter-facility communication and problem solving 
  • Provide formal and informal education to professional colleagues, staff, families, and the community 

Job Requirements

Required

  • Three (3) years experience as an RN in a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of California
  • Active Nurse Practitioner (NP) license in the State of California
  • California Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Controlled Substance Registration Certificate 
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification - American Heart Association within ninety (90) days of hire
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program certification within ninety (90) days of hire

Preferred

  • NICU Nurse Practitioner experience
