Under indirect supervision, the HIM manager manages the daily HIM operations to include personnel management, training and education, quality, productivity, report management, budget, problem-resolution, coordination of regulatory readiness and forms management, and assists HIM and hospital staff with HIM related follow-up, issues and questions. Actively moves forward from a paper to an electronic medical record (EMR) environment while collaborating with IT, physicians and others. Examines and re-engineers operations and procedures and develops, implements and monitors new strategies and procedures for HIM and associate/physician/patient satisfaction. Participates in short-term and long-term strategic planning.


Job Requirements

In addition to bringing humankindness to the workplace each day, qualified candidates will need the following:

  • High School Diploma/G.E.D. Required
  • Associates Degree or equivalent experience required
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred (RHIA
  • Knowledge of ICD-9-CM, CPT-4, anatomy and physiology, and medical terminology required
  • Registered Health Information Administrator from American Health Management Association (RHIA/RHIT) required and maintained
  • 2 years of Health Information Management experience in acute care setting
  • 1 year of leadership/management experience
  • Experience with the electronic health record (EHR) and health information systems and health care applications required
  • Experience with regulations and accreditation standards, knowledge of specific state and federal regulations and standards related to the management of health information
  • Must demonstrate proficiency in health care compliance, particularly HIPAA privacy and confidentiality laws, access and release of information. Demonstrate advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications and troubleshooting computer problems
  • Demonstrate excellent leadership, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge and experience with process improvement training preferred.

Physical Requirements
Sedentary work - prolonged periods of sitting and exert up to 10 lbs. force occasionally
