The posted compensation range of $20.86 - $29.46 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. CommonSpirit may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law.
Job Summary and Responsibilities
The exercise physiologist delivers quality care to patients and is accountable for implementing and supervising all phases of the physical exercise program, including Cardiac Rehab Phase I and Phase II, Pulmonary Rehab, maintenance programs, and cardiac stress testing, as applicable to location. Services are delivered within the framework of an interdisciplinary team approach, including the patient and significant others. These services are delivered in compliance with CommonSpirit Health’s mission, ethical standards, and policies and procedures.
Essential Key Job Responsibilities
- Administers appropriate treatments to patients; has knowledge and skills in EKG interpretation, blood pressure, heart rate, pulse oximetry, and proper use of fitness equipment.
- Evaluates new cardiac and pulmonary patients for entry into appropriate rehabilitation program. Creates a patient chart with all necessary forms required for admission.
- Provides patient and family education related to physical exercise, proper use of equipment, patient diagnosis, treatment progress, and diagnostic cardiac stress testing.
- Appropriately preps patients and executes cardiac stress testing (exercise and pharmacological), communicates effectively with Cardiology and Nuclear Medicine team, as applicable to location.
- Fosters communication with other exercise physiologists, nurses, doctors, patients, family and other hospital personnel to establish department rapport; attends and provides quality input to team applicable hospital meetings.
- Maintains timely and accurate medical records; records legibly in patient charts; completes reports in a timely and thorough manner.
- Provides instruction and supervision to student interns and volunteers in a respectful and courteous manner.
- Assists with teaching/training of new/current personnel; evaluates clinical competency of peers and provides interdepartmental education, as directed; completes all required training and education.
- Attends department and hospital inservices; assists in department performance improvement processes; actively engages in continuing education and professional development; attends annual conferences where applicable.
