The posted compensation range of $44.89 - $64.67 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. Job Summary and Responsibilities
As our Speech Language Pathologist, you will be a vital clinician, expertly assessing, diagnosing, and treating communication and swallowing disorders to significantly improve patient quality of life.
Every day, you will conduct comprehensive evaluations for all referred patients, meticulously implementing individualized treatment plans. You'll contribute clinical expertise to develop/upgrade treatment programs/protocols, and actively shape departmental and organizational goals.
To be successful in this role, you will possess advanced clinical knowledge, exceptional diagnostic/therapeutic skills, and a compassionate, patient-centered approach.
- Performs comprehensive speech-language and swallowing evaluations, including cognitive, communication, swallow, video swallow, and FEES assessments, to diagnose disorders, determine aspiration risks, establish baseline function, and develop individualized treatment plans.
- Reviews medical records and collaborates with patients, caregivers, and interdisciplinary teams to formulate, communicate, and implement treatment goals, recommendations, and plans of care tailored to each patient’s needs.
- Provides evidence-based speech-language pathology treatment services, including cognitive and communication therapy, swallowing interventions, family education, home evaluations, and equipment recommendations, while utilizing established protocols and innovative treatment approaches.
- Monitors patient progress through ongoing reassessment of clinical signs, symptoms, and functional outcomes, modifying treatment goals and interventions as appropriate and initiating discharge planning when maximum benefit has been achieved.
- Educates and supports patients, families, caregivers, staff, students, aides, and volunteers by providing training, guidance, supervision, and performance feedback related to speech-language pathology services and patient care needs.
- Completes accurate, timely, and thorough clinical documentation in compliance with departmental, hospital, and professional standards, while participating in chart reviews and incorporating feedback to support quality improvement initiatives.
Required
- Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology, and three months of recent experience (three-month internship may apply) in the field of Speech-Language Pathology in a hospital or rehabilitation setting with an emphasis in adult neurological services that demonstrates attainment of the requisite job knowledge skills/abilities.
- Current Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology issued by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
- Current active Washington State Speech/Language Pathologist license
- Current healthcare provider BLS Certification.
