The posted compensation range of $53.32 - $79.32 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. Job Summary and Responsibilities
As a Dosimetrist, you will work under the supervision of the Lead Physicist to assist the Radiation Oncologist in providing safe and effective treatment to radiation therapy patients.
Every day you will perform specific duties under the overall direction of medical physicists and direct supervision of the Lead Medical Physicist, ensuring precise treatment planning and delivery. You will also be responsible for renewing credentials annually and adhering to ethical standards.
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate meticulous attention to detail, a strong understanding of radiation oncology principles, and the ability to work collaboratively within a highly specialized team to ensure optimal patient outcomes and safety.
- Designs and documents a treatment plan by means of computer and/or manual computation that will deliver a prescribed radiation dose and field placement technique,considering dose limiting structures, in accordance with the Radiation Oncologist's prescription to a defined tumor volume on 100% of patients treated.
- Performs and documents calculation methods for the delivery of prescribed dose, and verifies mathematical accuracy of all calculations using a system established by the Medical Physicist or Radiation Oncologist.
- Participate in the continuous quality improvement of patient care activities within the department. Responsible for diode readings and calculations. Participate in weekly chart rounds.
- Provide physics and technical support to the Medical Physicist, in radiation protection, qualitative and quantitative machine calibrations, and quality assurance of radiation therapy equipment and document those activities. Accompany the physician with surgical implants (prostate & gyn).
- Audits patient billing of treatments.
- Responsible for accurate patient data acquisition, normal critical structure contouring, and multiple modality image fusion (CT, MR, PET).
Required:
- Associates Degree
- One(1) year of Certified Medical Dosimetrist experience
- Certified Medical Dosimetrist (CMD)
- BLS from the American Heart Assocaition (AHA) within 14 days upon hire
Preferred:
- Bachelors Degree
