Job Summary:

  • This job is responsible for assisting with patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse; performs data entry, unit secretarial functions, and equipment processing.

Essential Duties:

  • Direct Patient Care: Provides comprehensive personal care, hygiene, and comfort to patients, assisting with daily needs and preparing them for procedures.
  • Clinical Support & Documentation: Monitors and reports patient conditions, collects and transports samples, and accurately documents clinical activities within the scope of practice.
  • Environmental & Supply Management: Maintains a clean, organized, and stocked work environment, manages equipment, and ensures proper supplies and forms are available.
  • Ensures a safe patient and work environment by strictly adhering to safety protocols, infection control, and regulatory standards, while actively participating in emergency preparedness.
  • Manages comprehensive administrative and communication duties, including reception, scheduling, dispatch, patient orientation, and coordination of services, to ensure smooth unit operations and support for patients, staff, and visitors.
  • Performs vital unit support activities, including record management, data entry, administrative tasks, and charge reconciliation, ensuring efficient operation and adherence to procedures, especially during system downtime.

Job Requirements

Education & Experience

  • Completion of an accredited Nursing Assistant program (or military medical specialty training).  Six months related work experience preferred.  Experience in a hospital setting preferred. 
  • Prefer experience in a specialty unit.  Preference is given toward applicants with experience as both a Certified Nursing Assistant and Unit Coordinator.

Licensure & Certification

  • Must be registered by the Washington State Nursing Commission as a Certified Nursing Assistant.

Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS certification. Please be advised that this location requires quarterly American Heart Association (AHA) Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) competency certification post-hire.  This ongoing competency is required through resources internal to the facility; outside RQI competency resources are not acceptable for CommonSpirit Health compliance requirements.
