Job Summary and Responsibilities

The Farm at St. Francis is seeking a Volunteer Coordinator to assist in building connections and relationships in the community to strengthen its volunteer base. The Volunteer Coordinator will be responsible to recruit, train, retain, and effectively manage volunteers to support the mission and operations of The Farm at St. Francis, ensuring a robust and dedicated volunteer base that strengthens community connections.

The Farm at St. Francis is a hospital-based fruit and vegetable farm dedicated to building a more resilient food system that ensures accessible, affordable, and nutritious food for all community members. The Farm features a high tunnel, greenhouse, outdoor growing spaces and community gardens for the production of fresh fruits and vegetables. The produce is distributed to various points of need, including the local emergency food pantry, local schools, and St. Francis Health patients in need.

Duties to include:
● Recruit and schedule individuals and/or groups in the Wahpeton/Breckenridge area to volunteer at The Farm.
● Create volunteer role descriptions to include greenhouse activities, planting, transplanting, watering, weeding,trellising, pruning, and harvesting
● Be at The Farm when volunteers are present to guide them through activities and provide a positive and rewarding experience
● Maintain accurate volunteer database
● Following up with volunteers to thank them for their service to build a sustainable network of future volunteers
● Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends, as needed for volunteer shifts.

Job Requirements

Proven experience in volunteer coordination, community outreach, or program management
