Job Summary and Responsibilities
2027 Nursing Intern
As our 2027 Nursing Intern, you will help our patients receive high-quality, compassionate care so they can achieve optimal health outcomes. Throughout this 240-hour internship, you will assist in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of individual patient care in the nursing unit. You will be expected to support the delivery of care according to policies, procedures, and the State Nurse Practice Act. To be successful in this role, you must be skilled in delivering comprehensive patient care while adhering to established standards.
Responsibilities
- Adhere to our mission, values, and Journey Beyond Excellence expectations to foster a compassionate, healing environment, providing physiological, emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, families, and visitors.
- Assure quality of care by adhering to policies, philosophies, and standards of care regulated by the ND State Board of Nursing, the ND nurse practice act, and other governing agency regulations.
- Utilize the nursing process, including planning, assessment, intervention, and evaluation, to assist in the development and implementation of a comprehensive plan of care for the patient and family focused on optimal patient outcomes.
- Meet the educational needs of patients, families, and co-workers utilizing principles and current professional literature to achieve positive learning outcomes.
- Support the delegation of nursing care with respect based on knowledge of staff qualifications, competencies, and individual patient care needs.
- Protect patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations.

Job RequirementsRequired Qualifications
- Completion of 5th semester of accredited Baccalaureate Nursing Program by May 2027.
- Commitment to complete 240 internship hours.
- Working knowledge of clinical skills in the delivery of patient care.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification (or must be obtained within the orientation period).
- Good communication skills necessary for constant communication, both oral and written, with patients, families, visitors, and medical center staff.
- Accountable for own conduct and promotes and supports positive working relationships among staff, between other disciplines, departments, families, visitors, and patients.
- Maintains confidentiality.
