Responsibilities

CHI St. Alexius is looking for a Part Time Nurse Aide to join our Pre Op and Recovery unit!

This individual would works under the general supervision of the Clinical Coordinator Assistant Director of Surgical Services.  The Nurse Assistant performs receptionist, secretarial, and nursing assistant duties on the patient care unit and functions as the focal communication source for the department. The nurse aide assists nursing staff in the delivery of individual patient care for patients assigned to the Unit, according to unit policies and procedures.  Maintains standards of nursing practice, in accordance with the mission, values and philosophy of St. Alexius Medical Center.  All the criteria-based duties and standards within this document will be performed according to the policies, procedures and guidelines of the Medical Center.

What You'll Do:

  • Performs duties as delegated by the RN and reports back when tasks are completed.
  • Provides a safe, quiet environment.
  • Practices good infection control; maintains Universal Precautions.
  • Assists in keeping outpatient rooms/ bays clean orderly and well stocked.
  • Maintains on-going communication with OR control Desk and resource nurse to assure rapid appropriate patient flow and communicates patient delays.
  • Transports patients, verifying identity and correct location.


Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

High school student, graduate or equivalent.

Experience: No previous experience required.

Skills:  Working knowledge of basic clinical skills in delivery of patient care.

Basic Life Support Certification within 480hours of employment and meets recertification as required.

Interpersonal Skills: Good Communication skills necessary because of constant communication, both oral and written, with patients, families, visitors and medical center staff.

Accountable for own conduct and promotes and supports positive working relationships among staff, between other disciplines, departments, visitors and patients.

Maintains confidentiality.

Physical Effort:  Medium: Sometimes involves a maximum physical effort requirement of 50pounds sometimes.
