We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Technicians (MHTs) to provide direct, patient-centered care within a therapeutic milieu. As an MHT, you will play a crucial role in fostering a safe, supportive, and trauma-informed environment, helping patients develop individuality and healthy coping mechanisms consistent with Common Spirit's Mission, Vision, and Values.
What You'll Do:
- Direct Patient Care: Provide compassionate care, monitoring basic physical, emotional, and social needs of assigned patients.
- Therapeutic Environment: Maintain a therapeutic milieu, promoting a safe space for patients to problem-solve and develop new behaviors.
- Behavioral Support: Assist patients in acknowledging and taking responsibility for their psychological and behavioral patterns through feedback and consistent application of program guidelines.
- Emergency Response: Provide appropriate emergency care, maintain a secure environment, and act as a resource in crisis situations.
- Basic Nursing Tasks: Perform vital signs, assist with ADLs, and support nurses with tasks within the scope of practice.
- Trauma-Informed Care: Provide supervision for patients requiring physical restraints or seclusion, utilizing Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) techniques.
- Socialization & Education: Facilitate supportive, educational, and psycho-educational activities to enhance social skills and relationships.
- Effective Communication: Document objective observations of patient behaviors, programming involvement, and mental status, and communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary team.
- Team Collaboration: Act as a strong team member, collaborating with RNs and therapists on milieu management, assisting with new programming, and mentoring new MHTs.

- Strong understanding and application of trauma-informed care principles.
- Proficiency in Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) techniques.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, within a diverse environment.
- Ability to maintain professional demeanor, arrive and leave in a timely manner, and adhere to appropriate dress code (ceil blue scrubs).

Job Requirements
-Bachelors Degree or Mental Health Tech Certification from either
American Medical Certification Association or National Career
Certification Board.
-PRTF must be 21 years or older.
-Must be listed on the Nurse Assistant Registry operated by the North
Dakota Department of Health at the time of hire or within 90 days of
employment.
Will obtain the following within six (6) months of employment:
-Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) Certification
-Mandatory Child Abuse Reporting – APS- IA & NE
-First Aid – PRTF only
