Life Safety Monitor Technician

As our Life Safety Monitor Technician you will help ensure efficient and compliant communication for the entire St. Alexius Health Medical Center campus and its affiliates so they can maintain a safe and well-coordinated environment for patients and staff. Every day you will process all incoming calls, alerts, and walk-in patients. You will be expected to adhere strictly to the established protocols, policies, procedures, and guidelines of the Emergency and other Hospital Departments. To be successful in this role, you must possess strong communication skills and a meticulous attention to detail, especially when handling critical information and following established procedures.

• Monitors critical alarm systems, acts as an internal emergency operator, and facilitates essential communications during normal operations, emergencies, and disasters
• Initiates and coordinates emergency responses by dispatching clinical/non-clinical personnel, security, and external agencies (Police/Fire/EMS) as needed for various alarms and conditions
• Provides front-line customer service in the Emergency Department lobby, including patient arrival/logging, and communicates patient/visitor needs to ED staff
• Serves as the after-hours switchboard operator (10 PM - 6 AM), handling, screening, and transferring all incoming hospital calls
• Utilizes a wide array of communication technologies (email, fax, phone, radio, pagers, PA, mass communication systems) to share timely information across facilities and with both onsite and off-site personnel
• Manages audio/visual and access control systems, providing security overwatch and urgent video reviews, and completes all required log entries, incident reports, and documentation

Required

• High school diploma, GED or equivalent 
• BLS certification upon hire
• Proficient with phones and other communication systems; basic to intermediate computer ability 

Preferred

• 3 years security, law enforcement or related experience or 1 year in a communications center
