The posted compensation range of $17.10 - $23.19 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. Job Summary and Responsibilities
As our Lab Assistant, you will competently collect blood and other patient specimens for diagnostic testing, ensuring comfort and safety. Every day you will identify patients, explain procedures, proficiently perform venipunctures, and accurately label/prepare specimens for laboratory analysis, adhering to safety protocols.To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate exceptional technical proficiency, meticulous attention to detail, and excellent interpersonal skills for accurate diagnostics and patient satisfaction.
- Specimen Processing & Distribution: Serve as the primary support for lab operations by organizing, correctly distributing, and carefully handling all incoming specimens
- Send-Out Testing & Preparation: Meticulously prepare and package specimens for external testing, managing all aspects of send-out procedures
- Patient Identification & Service Excellence: Champion positive patient identification and consistently demonstrate "HumanKindness" in all patient interactions
- Collaborative Teamwork & Ownership: Contribute to an efficient workflow by taking ownership of tasks, assisting team members, and fostering a collaborative environment
- Laboratory Testing & Phlebotomy (If Qualified): Perform blood collection for all age groups (including Blood Bank collections) and conduct CLIA waived and moderately complex laboratory testing, evaluating and releasing results under CLS guidance, if qualified and regulated
- Operational Support & Supply Management: Maintain lab equipment, monitor and stock supply inventory, log necessary items, and exercise good judgment, seeking assistance when needed for smooth operations
Required
- High School graduate or equivalent
Preferred
- Lab Assistant Program certification; Phlebotomy program certificate
