Job Summary and Responsibilities
House Supervisor (Nurse)
As our House Supervisor, you will be a vital leader overseeing hospital-wide operations, ensuring safe patient care and efficient resource utilization across all clinical units during your designated shift. Every day you will manage staffing needs, coordinate patient admissions and transfers, triage high-census situations, and provide crucial guidance for resolving high-risk scenarios. You will be expected to make timely decisions, serve as a clinical resource, and advocate for patients and staff according to policies, procedures, and the State Nurse Practice Act. To be successful in this role, you must be an experienced and dynamic nursing leader, adept at crisis management, resource allocation, and maintaining operational standards across the entire medical center.
Responsibilities
- Allocate and direct staffing needs to meet patient, unit, and department demands, collaborating to ensure overall hospital-wide staffing needs are met for safe and effective care.
- Coordinate patient activity and safe practices across all clinical areas on the designated shift, including oversight for all admissions and facilitating EMTALA transfer requests.
- Facilitate unit triaging during times of peak census and coordinate strategic decisions with executive leadership during high census or ICU contingency plans.
- Respond to high-risk situations, providing immediate direction, comprehensive support, and assistance necessary toward problem resolution in a timely manner.
- Serve as a primary clinical resource for staff and physicians, providing guidance on policy interpretation, urgent patient issues, and medical staff privileging.
- Perform value-added activities that ensure JCAHO and regulatory compliance, positive financial performance, and exceptional patient/customer satisfaction across the hospital.
THIS JOB OFFERS BOTH AN INCENTIVE AND RELOCATION: We are offering a $5,000 Sign-On Bonus in addition to relocation to new hires who meet the eligibility requirements.
Job RequirementsRequired Qualifications
- Required Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) required OR must be currently enrolled at time of hire.
- Required Experience:
- 3 to 5 years of clinical experience
- LICENSURE Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the State of Nebraska or Iowa; license must be in the state of your residence (Nebraska and Iowa are compact states)
- CERTIFICATIONS
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required upon hire (American Heart Association or equivalent)
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required
- Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification required
- Working knowledge of patient flow management, staffing models, crisis intervention, leadership principles, and hospital-wide operations
- Good communication skills necessary for constant communication, both oral and written, with patients, families, visitors, medical staff, and employees
- Accountable for own conduct and promotes and supports positive working relationships among all hospital staff and stakeholders
- Maintains confidentiality
