Job Summary and Responsibilities

Emergency Department (ED) Clinical Nurse Educator

As our Emergency Department (ED) Nurse Educator, you will be pivotal in elevating the skills of our ED nursing team, fostering a culture of continuous learning, and ensuring the highest standards of emergency patient care. Every day you will develop and deliver educational programs, provide critical bedside mentorship, and implement evidence-based practices to equip our ED nurses for the unique challenges of emergency medicine. You will be expected to guide clinical practice according to policies, procedures, and the State Nurse Practice Act. To be successful in this role, you must be an experienced emergency nurse, a passionate educator, and a leader dedicated to staff development and quality improvement within the dynamic ED environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and deliver comprehensive educational programs, in-services, and competencies for ED nursing staff, encompassing new hire orientation, ongoing professional development, and specialized training (e.g., trauma care, advanced cardiac life support, rapid response protocols).
  • Provide direct bedside clinical mentorship and coaching to ED nurses, assessing educational needs, identifying knowledge gaps, and fostering critical thinking and clinical judgment in rapid assessment, intervention, and stabilization of emergent patients.
  • Implement and evaluate evidence-based practices and clinical guidelines within the Emergency Department, ensuring adherence to national standards (e.g., ENA, trauma guidelines), best practices for patient safety, and regulatory compliance.
  • Act as a clinical expert and resource for ED staff, guiding them through complex emergent patient cases, troubleshooting challenges, and promoting a culture of continuous learning and professional growth within the ED.
  • Collaborate effectively with ED leadership, physicians, ancillary staff, quality improvement teams, and other educators to identify educational needs, address performance gaps, and contribute to department-wide strategic goals.
  • Facilitate staff compliance with mandatory education, certifications, and licenses, tracking progress, and maintaining accurate records of educational activities to support professional development and regulatory requirements.

& THIS JOB OFFERS BOTH AN INCENTIVE AND RELOCATION: We are offering a $2,500 Sign-On Bonus in addition to relocation to new hires who meet the eligibility requirements.

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Required Education:
    • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Required Experience:
    • Minimum three years emergency department nursing experience required.
  • LICENSURE Active Registered Nurse multi-state compact license in good standing to practice in North Dakota
  • Working knowledge of emergency nursing practice, rapid assessment principles, adult learning principles, and current evidence-based practices in emergency medicine
  • Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certifications within the orientation period and meets re-certification as required
  • Good communication skills necessary for constant communication, both oral and written, with patients, families, visitors, and medical center staff
  • Accountable for own conduct and promotes and supports positive working relationships among staff, between other disciplines, departments, families, visitors, and patients
  • Maintains confidentiality
