Clinical Nursing Manager - Medical Oncology Unit
As our Clinical Nursing Manager for the Medical Oncology Unit, you will be a compassionate and strategic leader at CHI St Alexius Health Bismarck, overseeing the provision of specialized care to patients undergoing cancer treatment and managing various medical oncology conditions. This vital role calls for someone passionate about fostering clinical excellence, driving continuous improvement, and inspiring a team of dedicated nursing professionals in this complex and often emotionally challenging environment. You will be expected to plan, organize, implement, and maintain initiatives that uphold our mission, vision, and the highest standards of patient care and staff development for our oncology patients.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and oversight for all aspects of staff management, including interviewing, hiring, orienting, promoting, training, performance evaluations, and corrective actions, fostering a high-performing and engaged team within the Medical Oncology Unit.
- Allocate and direct staffing needs across the Medical Oncology Unit to meet complex patient care demands, collaborating effectively to ensure optimal staffing levels and resource utilization for oncology and general medical patients.
- Manage unit performance by setting clear goals, clarifying job expectations, monitoring progress, providing constructive feedback, and recognizing achievements, while promoting alignment with our organizational Commitments.
- Monitor and oversee patient engagement, quality initiatives, and patient safety for the Medical Oncology Unit, focusing on specialized oncology care, chemotherapy safety, symptom management, and end-of-life care, leveraging regulatory knowledge and organizational policies.
- Coordinate and manage operating systems, operational standardization, service standards, and communication methods in line with system-wide policies and processes, ensuring efficient and effective unit operations.
- Assure the highest level of understanding, awareness, and compliance with all applicable Joint Commission, federal, state, agency laws, regulations, guidelines, and professional standards for medical and oncology nursing care.
THIS JOB OFFERS BOTH AN INCENTIVE AND RELOCATION: We are offering a $25,000 Sign-On Bonus in addition to relocation to new hires who meet the eligibility requirements.
Job RequirementsRequired Qualifications
- Required Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN)
- Required Experience:
- Minimum three years of leadership experience OR minimum five years of leadership experience in the discipline OR Master's Degree with no additional experience.
- LICENSURE Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of North Dakota or a compact state
- CERTIFICATIONS:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required upon hire
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required upon hire
- Strong knowledge of inpatient nursing, oncology nursing, chemotherapy administration guidelines, nursing administration, applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and professional standards; strong project management skills; good communication skills; good strategic planning skills; strong change management skills; high level of motivation; team orientation; professionalism; trust; and a high value on treating others with dignity and respect.
Preferred Qualifications
- Education: Master's Degree (MSN)
- Experience: Minimum five years of progressive work experience, with at least two years of management experience in an inpatient nursing environment is preferred.
- Certifications: Specialty Certificate related to this role (e.g., OCN) encouraged. ACLS or PALS if incumbent has potential to work in clinical area, commensurate with department requirements.
