Responsibilities

CHI is looking for a Full Time Behavioral Therapist to join the team! We are opening up a new Partial Hospitalization Program adding in services for children and adolescents for a dual diagnosis program. The Therapist would be responsible for the overall implementation, provision and coordination of social services offered to patients in the program.  All the criteria-based duties and standards within this document will be performed according to the policies, procedures and guidelines within this document, Partial Hospitalization and St. Alexius Medical Center.

What You'll Do:

  1. Evaluation
    1. Completes the biopsycho-social assessment of the patient and documents the results appropriately in the chart according to departmental policies and procedures
    2. Assesses family history and dynamics and need for further intervention
  2. Treatment Planning
    1. Develop treatment plan, including goals and interventions appropriate to the age of the patient population served.  
    2. Coordinates treatment plan with patient, agencies and the multi-disciplinary team. 
    3. Evaluates the patient’s progress toward the attainment of goals and modifies the treatment as needed.  
    4. Facilitates family meetings/therapy.
  3. Treatment
    1. Demonstrates ability and knowledge to provide individual group and family therapy.  
    2. Demonstrates ability and knowledge to provide psychotherapy.  
    3. Selects age appropriate treatment interventions and documents according to program policy.
      1. Enhances knowledge, develops skills and uses talents in order to reach one’s fullest potential.
  4. Multidisciplinary Treatment Team
    1. Attends at least 50% of unit based continuing education sessions encompassing all ages of patients served excluding mandatory certifications and mandatory training.
    2. Attends staff meetings and supervisory sessions as scheduled 90% of the time.
    3. Educates staff about new treatment intervention.
    4. Provides community education through interviews and presents at conferences
    5. Develops innovative programming opportunities.
    6. Attends patient rounding to support multidisciplinary individualized treatment plans
    7. Attends multidisciplinary group, family, and patient sessions as designated


Qualifications

Education: A Masters of Social Work degree or Masters in Marriage and Family Counseling Degree.

Licensure: Licensed Certified Social Worker in North Dakota (LCSW), or in process of obtaining license within 6 months of hire date. Until license is received will work as LCSW designee in accordance with ND Board of Social Work Practice Requirements. 

Experience: Experience working in a mental health setting is desirable.

Skills: Must be able to communicate, maintain records and develop reports. Must be able to use a computer, keyboard and telephone.  Working knowledge of basic clinical skills in delivery of patient care.

Interpersonal Skills: Good communication skills both oral and written, with patients, families, visitors and medical center staff.  Accountable for own conduct, promotes and supports positive working relationships among the staff, between disciplines, departments, patients, families and visitors.  Maintains confidentiality. 

Physical Effort: Ability to move lite weights.  Ability to move freely throughout the medical center. Ability to implement non-violent crisis intervention skills..

Hours of Work: Days and evenings, depending on program assignment. No weekend or Holidays.  Variable work hours as need arises.
