Job Summary and Responsibilities
As our Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN), you will provide vital direct patient care, significantly contributing to patient well-being and recovery as an integral part of our compassionate healthcare team.
Every day, you will assess patient conditions, administer medications, perform prescribed treatments, and meticulously document care. You will collaborate with RNs and physicians to implement individualized care plans, ensuring a seamless and high-quality patient experience.

- OBSERVATION OF PATIENTS
- Receive report on assigned patients. Use information received as a basis for establishing priorities of care.
- Continually observe patient needs by making rounds, rendering direct patient care, and discussing patient needs with other staff members and family members.
- Document findings on each patient, daily.
- Give pertinent report to oncoming shift.
- Focuses on care of patients in ED Minor and assists in the main ED when available and needed.
- Serves and a clinical resource for and provides direction to ED techs as necessary.
- ASSIST THE RN WITH THE DEVELOPMENT OF INTERDISCIPLINARY CARE PLAN
- Communicate patient needs and problems to a RN. Documents all teaching provided to the patient and / or their family.
- DOCUMENT THE EFFECTIVENESS OF INTERDISCIPLINARY PLAN OF CARE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CHARTING POLICY
- Record pertinent and concise information that will reflect the patients' needs, problems, capabilities and limitations, as well as the patients' response to nursing interventions.
- Entries will accurately record any incident that has a bearing on the patient.
- Subsequent entries will be made if the patient's condition changes.
- PRACTICE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide total patient care, including treatment and medications, IV's.
- Promote the patient's right and need for privacy and maintain confidentiality.
- Provide emotional support for patients and their families by utilizing communication skills.
- Seek and accept direction from staff RN, Unit coordinator and Nurse Manager.
- Perform sterile and/or skilled procedures.
- Participate in quality assurance activities.
- May remove sutures and staples from incisions.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team conferences.
- MEDICATION ADMINISTRATION
- Administer selected medications using the (5) five rights of medication administration.
- Uses 2 (two) separate hospital approved identifers to safely identify the patient prior to medication administration.
- May not dilute medications in a multiple dose vial. May not prepare or administer experimental drugs.
- INTRAVENOUS FLUID ADMINISTRATION (Upon completion of orientation, on peripheral line only)
- Start IV's with standard IV solutions maintain the infusion and discontinue an IV according to the Division of Nursing policy.
- Infuse blood or blood components (blood must be checked by two licensed nurses).
- Initiate and maintain saline locks.

- Other Education level necessary to obtain required licensure and certifications, upon hire and
- Licensed Vocational Nurse: CA, upon hire and
- Basic Life Support - CPR, upon hire
