The posted compensation range of $26.92 - $32.19 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. CommonSpirit may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law.
Job Summary and Responsibilities
Position Summary:
The Clinical Laboratory Technician who will report to the Laboratory Supervisor, is responsible for assisting in the laboratory examinations and testing of waived and moderate complexity as defined under the scope of practice by the State of California,
Department of Public Health Laboratory Field Services.
Duties include: receiving and processing blood samples; centrifugation and loading barcoded specimens onto automated analyzers that are interfaced to the LIS; aliquoting and handling of reference lab specimens; assisting in performing waived and moderate complexity testing. Additional duties include clerical and telephone communication in support of the Laboratories functions. When licensed to do so, may also perform the duties of a Clinical Laboratory Assistant and other duties as directed by the Clinical Laboratory Scientist.
Job Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
- 1 year of clinical laboratory experience including knowledge of instrument operation specimen processing knowledge of specimen send-outs and/or microbiology specimen processing
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician certificate from LFS DPH CA (CA CPT I LICENSE)
- Heartsaver certification or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Preferred Requirements:
- Five years of clinical laboratory experience or two years of college preferred
- One year acute care hospital experience preferred
Please be advised that this location requires quarterly American Heart Association (AHA) Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) competency certification post-hire. This ongoing competency is required through resources internal to the facility; outside RQI competency resources are not acceptable for CommonSpirit Health compliance requirements.
