The posted compensation range of $40.55 - $50.66 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. CommonSpirit may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law.
Job Summary and Responsibilities
As our Lead Surgical Tech you will function as a team member during the preoperative, intra-operative and postoperative phases of the surgical procedure.
Every day you will demonstrate advanced skills in operating room technology and proficient knowledge of surgical procedures (as described in the Core Competencies and unit skills checklists).
Consistently demonstrate proper care and handling of instruments and equipment according to AAMI/ANSI Standards.
Consistently demonstrate the principles of aseptic technique according to AORN Guidelines for Perioperative Practice, facility policy and procedures and the guidelines described in Universal Precautions.
To be successful in this role, you must
Handles blood and tissue specimens accurately and in a timely manner.
Facilitates movement of surgery schedule through timely room turnover, communicating with appropriate persons for case progress and delays, through consistent and accurate anticipation of team needs.
Identify and respond to urgent/emergent situations in a calm and efficient manner.
Consistently accepts assistance and direction, demonstrating sound judgement during emergency situations.
Anticipates activities in the surgical procedure suite and according to surgeon preference.
Accomplishes work with speed, accuracy and dexterity in an effort to expedite the surgical procedure.
Consistently demonstrates knowledge of AORN Guidelines for Perioperative Practice, and facility Operating Room Policies and Procedures through surgical skills and techniques.
Participates in unit-based CQI programs.
Required
- Completion of Surgical Technologist training. Completion of Certification as Surgical Technologist
A minimum of three (3) years recent hospital experience in the capacity of a Surgical Technologist
- Basic Life Support - BLS-CPR within 30 days of hire
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)
- Technologist in Surgery-Certified (TS-C)
