About Clinical Engineering

Our Clinical Engineering (CE) enterprise supports patient care by assuring our more than 700,000 pieces of medical equipment are working properly and accurately. Our technicians allow health care teams to confidently leverage diagnostic equipment when needed because of the important work this team does.

Our medical equipment ranges from common vital sign machines located in a doctor’s office to advanced imaging and treatment devices such as CT, MRI and Surgical Robots. CE is the department responsible for providing high quality, cost effective, and comprehensive in-house medical equipment service programs that include planned & corrective maintenance, network vulnerability tracking, equipment planning and procurement services based on customer needs. This in-house CE program enhances service response and support while reducing external clinical engineering service expenses from third parties.

Our program is structured such that an entry level technician has a path for career growth within core biomedical equipment or if desired, they can become specialized in support of imaging equipment. Another more focused and fast-growing career path for our technicians is in the field of medical equipment cybersecurity. Career growth and professional development are a very important aspect to our program and these three primary career path categories have proven to be major job satisfaction factors for our team members.
