Responsibilities

Job Summary:

The Grants Program Manager is responsible for the comprehensive administration and oversight of all research grant-related activities within the organization. This includes the development and submission of competitive grant applications, management of awarded grants, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and guidelines, and providing support and guidance to investigators throughout the grant lifecycle.  The position requires strong financial acumen, exceptional communication skills, and a deep understanding of extramural funding agency regulations and federal/state laws. The Grants Program Manager will call upon this working knowledge to independently guide and advise investigators and internal stakeholders to ensure compliance with funding obligations, cost accounting principles, extramural reporting obligations and related local policies. This position serves to promote proposal development to maximize extramural research funding opportunities and ensure successful grant outcomes with minimal to no supervision.

Essential Functions:

  • Collaborate with investigators to identify potential funding opportunities aligning with organizational research priorities.
  • Develop proposal budgets and complete cost analysis to determine financial feasibility of research grant proposals.
  • Ensure research grant adherence to all funder guidelines and requirements.
  • Facilitate and obtain all necessary institutional approvals prior to submission.
  • Conduct thorough reviews of grant applications for completeness, accuracy, and compliance before submission.
  • Manage the submission process, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of all required documents.
  • Negotiate with funding agencies to address any questions or concerns regarding applications.
  • Manage awarded grants, ensuring compliance with all terms and conditions of the grant agreement.
  • Draft and finalize all research grant-related interagency agreements, cooperative agreements, and subaward agreements.
  • Coordinate tracking grant expenditures and support the preparation of financial reports to funders and internal stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all grant-related activities.
  • Oversee the timely submission of all required progress reports and other deliverables.
  • Manage grant budgets, ensuring funds are utilized efficiently and effectively, and address rebudgeting when necessary.

Qualifications

Minimum:

Education:

Bachelors Degree or equivalent combination of 5 years relevant experience as determined by the hiring manager

Masters Degree or equivalent combination of 7 years relevant experience as determined by the hiring manager preferred

Special Skills:

Proficient computer skills, proactive, strong organizational skills, demonstrated knowledge of organization and administrative processes, excellent verbal and communication skills

Familiarity with federal and private granting agencies and their regulatory requirements
