Job Summary and Responsibilities

Patient Care Techs (PCTs) are vital, unlicensed healthcare providers offering direct patient care under an RN's supervision. They apply developmental knowledge to tailor care to patients' evolving physical and psychosocial needs.
Key responsibilities include:
- Operating various equipment: computers, vital sign machines (recognizing and reporting abnormalities), O2 saturation monitors, glucose meters, intercoms, telephones, scales, and lifts.
- Performing basic EKG monitoring and recognizing life-threatening dysrhythmias (as required by location).
- Executing nursing duties delegated by RNs.
- Venipuncture and discontinuing IVs.
- Performing 12-lead EKGs (as required).
- Demonstrating strong communication, telephone, and customer service skills.
- Adapting to new healthcare technology.
- Accessing secured supply rooms for necessary equipment.
Job Requirements
PCT I:
Students ages 16 and 17 can be employed with parental consent as part of High School Health Career Program, High School graduate or equivalent.
BLS within 30 days of hire
PCT II:
Students ages 16 and 17 can be employed with parental consent as part of High School Health Career Program, High School graduate or equivalent.
Certified Nursing Assistant program graduate with current TN license, Certified Patient Care Technician or certified Medical Assistant with active certification
Certified Nursing Assistant with current TN license, Certified Patient Care Technician or Certified Medical Assistant with active certification
